About Rob

Long before I ever published book or served as a pastor in a local church, God mercifully reached down and saved me. This happened through a faithful and courageous friend in the summer of 1990. When I finished my BM in Music Performance / Music Education, I taught in the public schools of NJ for eight years.

During my time teaching, I got a close up look at the impact of a healthy marriage and a solid family. All of the students were great, but those who struggled to do life well often came from homes that struggled to do family well. And at the heart of most every family culture is a marriage that dictates the tone of the home.

My wife, Gina, and I realized we wanted to spend our lives building into marriages for the glory of God, helping couples in need to walk with Christ and experience his life-changing, marriage-altering power. Thus, I ended my time teaching with a transition to FamilyLife, where I served as a writer for familylife.com and a project manager for ministry-wide events. It was from there that the Lord called me into pastoral ministry.

I am a husband to Gina. Married in 1995, we have known decades of blessing, walked through trials and hardships together, and seen the hand of God moving in keeping with his perfect will. Gifted in ways I’m not, she is God’s provision not just for me but for our family. She has her own wonderful story of redemption, bringing unique glory to God.

I am a father to my six children. From oldest to youngest, they are Nathan, Samuel, Hannah, James, Elizabeth, and Jennifer. Each special and wonderful in their own way. Each a gift to their parents. The home in which they live is full of life, full of noise, and full of music. One of the greatest delights in recent years has been watching God work through the older five as they care for and love Jennifer, who is God’s very special gift to the Floods. She has introduced us to the world of Down Syndrome, a world full of joy and miracles.

I have the distinct privilege of pastoring at Covenant Fellowship Church, where it is my joy to serve the wonderful collection of God’s people there. Additionally, I get to serve alongside a gifted team of pastors, each striving to serve and honor God in their lives and ministries.

It is in the shadow of those immeasurable blessings that I write my book, With These Words: Five Communication Tools for Marriage and Life. It is with the investment of such dear saints that I produce these blog posts. My God, my wife, my kids, and my church all have their fingerprints in the words I say and publish.

Beyond these things, I love all things broadway musical, reading and viewing dystopian and fantasy literature/film, and studying church history. I enjoy good conversation, deep laughter, and the great joy of reconnecting with old friends.
